The 100 Series (1998–2007) marked a turning point: the front solid axle gave way to independent front suspension for a more refined on-road ride, and the silky 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8 replaced the inline-six. The result is a Land Cruiser that crosses states in comfort and still tackles serious terrain. Its luxury twin, the Lexus LX470, shares the platform.
Building a 100 Series is about respecting the IFS while unlocking real capability. We fit suspension systems that lift and firm up the front torsion/coil setup correctly, add skid plates and sliders to protect the long wheelbase, and outfit the cavernous interior for overland travel. The 2UZ V8 is among the most reliable engines Toyota ever built — a clean 100 with a proper suspension, armor, and tire package is an outstanding high-mileage expedition truck.
